Clos Troteligotte K-Nom Malbec 2015 (Cahors, France) "...red cherry, plums, minerality..."

Emmanuel Rybinski, is without question, the most forward thinking producer in Cahors and runs this spectacular property. Clos Troteligotte roughly translates to “Land of the Doves,” and this ten-acre estate sits atop an iron rich plateau (much of the iron present here is so pure it could be sold for smelting!). Stylistically Emmanuel’s wines straddle the line between old and new Cahors. Farming is certified organic by ECOCERT FRBIO. Winemaking is natural, without additives and results in vibrant fruit in the glass. The iron soil components offer striking minerality. The young Rybinski family “lives off of the land” in a literal sense, farming all their own fruits/vegetables on site, growing their own grains and crushing them with a homemade windmill, raising their own livestock, managing their own forest for heating/cooking, and even growing hemp for clothing and insulation purposes!

A modern styled Cahors with concentrated blackcurrant, menthol nuances and intriguing undertones of crystallised pineapple. Supple with soft, fine tannins, the aromas of fresh black fruits persist on the palate. Full bodied, but approachable with a textured finish.

"Very juicy with fleshy ripe black and purple plums. Lots of juicy acidity on the palate for tangy tomato meat sauces. Black fruit, smoke and toasty oak on this well-priced, robust southern French red wine made from Malbec grapes. Pair with grilled meats." 90 Points, Natalie Maclean (Nov 25, 2017)

"The wine is rich with a dusty tannic character. It has black-currant flavors that are packed with both fruitiness and balanced acidity. The organic grapes give a pure line of ripe fruits that are going to integrate well with the tannins. Drink starting from 2018." 91 Points, Wine Enthusiast (Nov 1, 2016)
