Bodegas Finca Nueva Gran Reserva DOC 2005 (Rioja, Spain) "...ripe plums, leather, sweet spice..."
The Finca Nueva Gran Reserva shows the best of both worlds, the freshness and balance of the wines of the new era and the subtlety and elegance of the most traditional. The first vintage 2004 is the same one in which this new sister project of Finca Allende by Miguel Ángel de Gregorio was created.
Aged in French oak for 24 months before it is kept 5 years in the bottle before release, aging that endows this wine with very fine tannins, very well integrated, velvety and smooth, with balance and enough fruit and acidity to have a long life.
”100% Tempranillo. Balsamic, stewed damson nose. The palate is packed with spicy ripe black fruit, floral and herbal notes and there's plenty of acidity to keep the wine fresh and moreish.” - 93 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards, 2018
“Red deep colour, dark rim and purple. Intense fruity aromas (cherry in liquor, and ripe plums) with hints of noble wood (cedar). Very balanced, with a fresh acidity and polished and delicate tannins though intense velvet feeling and with a final length of ripe fruits. Beefy in the mouth, tasty and lively. Velvety and oily body.”
