Younger sibling of Rioja's legendary Allende winery, the creation of one of Spain's finest winemakers, Miguel Angel de Gregorio, and his sister Mercedes. The Finca Nueva expressions are fruitier and more immediately accessible. Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes, this is a searingly modern Rioja boasting a silky succulence and super savouriness. Easy-drinking, great value.
Grapes are sourced from various villages in the right bank of the River Ebro like Fuenmayor, Navarrete, San Asensio and Briones. Miguel Ángel is particularly fond of this area given the northern exposure of most of the vineyards.
"With just three months in oak, is described by the winemaker as his “fun wine”. It was better than just fun, gaining top marks from Bourne. A rich, savoury bouquet of wild thyme and fennel seed with oodles of blueberry flavours and a shot of chocolate-coated bullets. Quite international in style with plenty of depth and power to propel the finale. I liked the way development added further complexity to its red fruits and cedary oak. It’s round in the mouth with good depth of flavour and fine, powdery tannins. An impressive package!" - 95 Points, Gourmet Traveller Wine
"Grapes are sourced from Cenicero, Navarrete, Fuenmayor and San Asensio in Rioja Alta (previously all of them came from Briones). Lovely seasoned wild fruits (blackberries, brambles) followed by a fresh, herbal notes." - winery notes
