After stints as Sommelier in Adelaide and London, Damon Nagel came back to South Australia and purchased a property in the Adelaide Hills that became the Brackenwood vineyard. Located within the Hope Forest, nestled high in the sub-region of Kuitpo. The property is in the most southern section of the Hills. And was once a deer farm. The Vineyard is biodynamic and all fruit is Estate grown.
"Not much Barbera in the ground in the Hills. Should be more. A pure and silky style with a lovely interplay of sweet red fruits and perfume versus some balsamic vinegar notes. A wine which will continue to evolve positively with time in bottle, and at 12.7% alcohol, certainly sitting in the finer end of Aussie Barbera. Has some x-factor for sure."
