Brothers at War 'Some Other Guy' GSM 2018 (Barossa, South Australia) "...red fruit, leather, spice..."
55% Grenache, 25% Shiraz, 20% Mataro
Occasionally, the Brothers need a referee. That’s where Some Other Guy comes in, the third and not so silent partner.
This vibrant, juicy and well-balanced wine shows aromas of raspberry, cherries and spice. The supple palate shows hints of red fruits, leather and spice with a complex earthy component. Finishing with juicy acidity and a balanced tannin structure. A perfect example of what the Barossa represents.
All parcels of this GSM were picked at optimum ripeness at around 13.5 baume with 20% whole bunches remaining in the fermentation for both the Grenache and Mataro parcels. The fruit was held at 10-15 degrees for two days before being allowed to warm and start fermentation naturally. After 12 days on skins and gently hand plunged daily, the wines were pressed to 90% seasoned, 10% new French oak 500L puncheons where they matured for 12 months.
No fining or filtration was used on this wine.
All fruit for this GSM is sourced from our Pendee Farm vineyard just outside of Springton in the Eden Valley. Farmed sustainably with organic principles. With an elevation of 410 meters and its own sub climate, this vineyard continues to produced unique elegant wines.
