Cato Grüner Veltliner 2017 (Tumbarumba, New South Wales) "...citrus, lemongrass, white pepper..."
"The synergy between Gruner Veltliner and Tumbarumba became apparent during the successful transition from this grape’s homeland of Austria to our high elevation and cool climate vineyard in Tumbarumba.
In 2017, fruit ripened gently and evenly achieving excellent flavour development. There was zero disease pressure.
The inaugural release of our new Gruner Veltliner! One hectare of Gruner was grafted onto 23yo Pinot Meunier vines. A solid rootstock base has delivered concentrated and deep varietal fruit flavours.
A bright and extremely varietal nose of lime, citrus, lemongrass and white pepper. The palate is dry and crisp with an intense citrus depth that is complemented by crunchy green apple notes, while white pepper and spice add lift and complexity. A sturdy structure provides good drive and persistence.- Winery Notes
