Domäne Wachau is one of Austria’s most renowned wineries, based in Austria’s most prestigious wine growing region, the Wachau. Steep terraced yineyards, a cool, marginal climate and meagre primary rock soils define the wines.
The quality seal in the Wachau has three categories: Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd. The Federspiel title is given to medium-light wines with an alcohol content of between 11.5% and 12.5% by volume. The name Federspiel, based on falcon hunting (once a popular hobby of the local rulers), stands for the typical elegance of the Grüner Veltliner, which produces very exciting white wines at this quality level. The Wachau domain ferments this great Austrian classic in stainless steel tanks.
"Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Terrassen is a real benchmark wine from Wachau. The wineoffers distinctive aromas of green apple, white pepper, hints of mango and delicate herbalnotes. This Federspiel is a classic example of Grüner Veltliner with its medium-body crispacidity, juicy fruits, and white spice on the finish." - Winery notes
