First Ridge Sangiovese 2016 (Mudgee, NSW) "...cherry, vanilla, spice..."
Located just ten kilometres from the beautiful town of Mudgee, at an elevation of 580 metres the First Ridge Vineyard overlooks the beautiful Cudgegong River Valley. First Ridge has been producing premium wine grapes for the last 18 years, and are dedicated to producing the best Italian varietals. Vines were first planted in the 1990's who were an early adopter of the Italian varieties of Sangiovese and Barbera and following on with Vermentino, Fiano and Pinot Grigio in 2013.
"Bright cherry, vanilla and spice are pronounced on the nose with tart cherry, plums and fig on the palate with a dark chocolate (98%) finish. The soft tannin and acidity allow for the varietal characteristics to linger. Canopy and vineyard management is integral to producing a Sangiovese at this level, this enables the team to harvest fruit that has both intensity and character. A lovely drink now wine, best had with food and shared with friends."
