Flametree Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2018 (Margaret River, Western Australia) "...grapefruit, nectarine, herbs..."
80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon, Margaret River.
“Flametree, owned by the Towner family (John, Liz, Rob and Annie), has had extraordinary success since its first vintage in 2007. The usual practice of planting a vineyard and then finding someone to make the wine was turned on its head: a state-of-the-art winery was built, and grape purchase agreements signed with growers in the region. Show success was topped by the winning of the Jimmy Watson Trophy with its 2007 Cabernet Merlot. If all this were not enough, Flametree secured the services of winemaker Cliff Royle.” - 92 Points, James Halliday
"The nose shows fragrant lime, lemon grass and stone fruits. Grapefruit and white nectarine provide a burst of flavour on the palate with hints of fresh cut herbs. We added some grape solids to the ferment and transferred a portion of the juice into old and new French oak, this has given the wine some funky complexity. Extended lees contact in barrel and tank has added even more texture to the palate. Ripe fruit flavours, fresh acidity and hints of savoury complexity are the hallmarks of the 2016 SBS. Enjoy with fresh cheeses, Summer salads and seafood."
