Fletcher 'The Minion' Nebbiolo 2016 (Victoria, Australia) "...herbs, spices and elegance..."
For the Minion, I set out to make a wine that captured the technique of multi-vineyard blending using fruit from the Pyrenees and Yarra Valley. I don’t like talking about specific percentages or exact vineyard locations, because for this wine it doesn’t really matter. The focus should be on the wine itself, but more importantly, what Nebbiolo as a variety can do in Australian terroir. However, as a general break down of location and what they give, the Pyrenees gives the darker fruits, richness and weight with broad but firm tannins. The King Valley adds dried herbs and spice, and the Yarra gives the acid, cherries and sharper, finer tannin. All layers that build on the complexity and uniqueness of the wine. - David Fletcher
