Gembrook Hill Village Pinot Noir 2018 (Yarra Valley, Victoria) "...cranberry, raspberry, fine tannins..."
Founded in 1983 when Ian and June Marks settled on their vineyard site after a long search for the perfect pocket of land throughout almost every wine region in Victoria. With views of Mt Donna Buang, a backdrop of the Warburton ranges, red soil and a coveted north-easterly aspect, it is the perfect spot for cool climate winemaking. Today Gembrook Estate wines are regarded as some of the most outstanding examples of their variety in Australia and are crafted with an old-world wine making mindset.
"2018 was a great vintage in Gembrook, cooler than normal in winter and spring , but from January onwards the weather turned warm and dry during the ripening period . A little more intensity in 2018 with slightly darker colour, this is a wonderful savoury Pinot Noir. Red berries with crushed wet leaves on the nose, the palate shows cranberry and raspberry fruit with earthy notes on the mid palate . Finishes long with fine tannins and a mineral component ." - Winery notes
