Georges Duboeuf Domaine des Versauds Morgon 2015 (Beaujolais, France) "...cherry, chocolate, wildflowers..."
Morgon is one of the 10 Beaujolais crus located on the slopes of the Beaujolais hills on the western side of the Saone River. The appellation applies only to red wines based on the Gamay grape variety. Some white grape varieties are permitted in the final blend: Chardonnay, Aligoté and Melon de Bourgogne.
Morgon produces earthy wines that can take on a Burgundian character of silky texture after five years aging. These wines are generally the deepest color and most rich Cru Beaujolais with aromas of apricots and peaches.
"Bright red cherry aromas and flavors hallmark this tasty Gamay. It shows fairly rich red fruits that seems to dance on the palate. The complex flavors of cherry, milk chocolate and wild flowers linger through lengthy finish."- Winery Notes
