Gut Hermannsberg Steinterrassen Trocken 2016 (Nahe, Germany) "...elegance, peach, power..."
"Almost seamlessly combines elegance and power with a delicate peachy fruit and a hint of creaminess from lees contact. The finish is long and complete. Up there with many of the 2016 GGs and on the cusp of greatness. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 94 Points
"This year’s Steinterrassen cuvée, assembled in May and bottled in June, adds a significant measure of fruit from the Rotenberg to smaller volumes from Steinberg and Kerz. “It reflects parcels that on their own would not justify Grosses Gewächs status,” observed Karsten Peter, “but whose blend is more than the sum of their parts.” Piquantly pit- and seed-tinged peach and lemon dominate a forceful nose and silken palate. Stony, dusty and smoky accents seem to point particularly toward the Rotenberg component. There is a tangy, active, energetic sense to the impressively sustained finish, and although the wine harbors around 12.5% alcohol, there is a surprising and welcome sense of lift." 91 Points, Vinous
"A real mouthful of wine! A unification of these three steeply terraced “Grand Cru” sites. Fermentation - almost solely in 600 L oak casks- is kicked off by the natural wild vineyard yeasts themselves. Herbal spices combine with stone fruits, apple and floral aromas creating a wonderful rich creamy texture but at the same time, a salty longevity. A wine of expression."
