Koyama Tussock Terrace Vineyard Riesling 2018 (Waipara Valley, New Zealand) "...mandarin peel, honey, rich..."
The grapes were sourced from free draining, gravel soil Vineyard in the heart of Waipara Valley. Vines were planted in 2004 by Mr. David Bedford. 2017 Vintage was very successful vintage for Waipara Valley. Due to the rain during harvest time (beginning to mid April), the grapes were almost 100 % botrytis influenced. After harvested, grapes were whole bunch pressed, then fined with carbon to take out the mold aroma derived from the Botrytis. Fermentation is stopped at about 19g/L residual sugar to balance with acidity. Semi sweet style wine. The bright golden colour with, pale straw hue. The aroma of, mandarin peel, with hint of honey and honey comb derived from botrytis influence on the palate, slightly oily and rich, can taste sweetness but balance with acidity and body derived from botrytis influence.
