Montenidoli is on the ‘hill of the little nests’; higher up the slopes are the Triassic terrains, the oldest in Tuscany, rich with minerals for red wines. Elisabetta Fagiuoli and her family arrived in 1965 and have worked tirelessly to capture the wonderful potential of the terroir. Montenidoli’s vineyards are organically grown. For fifty years no herbicide, insecticides or any other chemicals have been used. Sunlight and clean air are perceived to be the best medicine to make the vines healthy, strong, and resistant to disease and bad weather. This is Chianti made in the ancient traditional way, by including a small portion of white grapes (Malvasia) in the crush.
" The wines of Elisabetta Fagiuoli are always breathtaking. Her Vernaccia, a wine we featured last fall, is like no other. This Chianti, from the Colli Senesi sub-zone, is stunningly expressive. The wine is clean, fresh and lively with a ton of character. Flavors of dried cranberry and cherry are met with notes of dried tobacco leaf and warm rocky earth. A perfect balance of tannin and acidity makes the wine delicious and easy to drink. What a price for a wine with this much depth and life!" 91 Pts, Vin Chicago
