Mountadam Five Fifty Chardonnay 2018 (Barossa Valley, South Australia) "...ripe apple, pear, peach..."
The vines grow in quartz rich sandy loams formed from the underlying 500 million year old Schist bedrock. Made from the 16 individual Chardonnay vineyards on the estate, 5 vineyard components were selected to make this wine. Harvesting occurred at optimal fruit flavour over a two week period. Picking the grapes in the cool of early morning followed by a gentle pressing, a long cool 4 week fermentation with natural cultured yeast, helps retain maximum grape flavors. This unoaked wine shows the crispness and concentration of ripe Chardonnay.
"Intense lively fruit aromas carry through on the palate. Ripe apple, pear and peach characters with a distinct fresh acidity, typical of cool climate Chardonnay."
