Nocton Vineyard was established in Tasmania's Coal Valley in 1999. The property was originally part of the Carrington Plains estate (c1814), owned by a succession of early Governors of Van Diemans Land.
The vines are planted on north-east facing slopes of dolerite soils over calcareous and sandstone subsoils.
Typical Coal Valley dark berry flavours with a juicy mandarin edge. There's intensity in the fruit but lushness too, making this an easy to drink, very satisfying pinot.
