Ocean Eight Pinot Noir 2016 (Mornington Peninsula, Victoria) "...cherry, earl grey tea, vanilla..."
Ocean Eight is one of the star wineries of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula; making tiny quantities of exceptional, hand-crafted wines. This 2016 Ocean Eight Pinot Noir is another fine example of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir offering excellent fruit weight and intensity, there's plenty of raspberry, red cherry and plum flavours that are beautifully balanced by subtle oak and forest-floor complexity. An outstanding Pinot Noir that will only bolster the reputation of Ocean Eight as one of Victoria's leading Pinot Noir.
"The wine from 2016 has a Burgundy hue of blood red to maroon. There is just a little cloudiness which is an indication that the wine has been bottled without filtration and fining in order to retain as much flavour as possible. At this youthful stage showing regional characteristics of dark red cherries. A hint of vanilla and elegant earl grey tea & rhubarb follow through on the palate with soft tannin. A supple, richer style of Pinot noir in 2016."
