Pala i Fiori Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2017 (Sardinia, Italy) "...ripe raspberry, spice, herbs..."
Established in 1950 and now run by the third generation of the family, Pala is a specialist in Cannonau (aka Grenache). Cement and stainless steel tanks rather than oak barrels were used for the 6 month aging period plus 3 months of bottle aging before release. For a hot vintage, there is remarkable structure in this wine. Look for a ruby red colour with violet edges: strong perfumes of black currants and hibiscus; a fruity and medium bodied palate; and a spicy herbal finish.
*DOC is an Italian quality assurance designation for wine and food. To receive this label, a product must adhere to quality assurance rules as well as the location defined in the rules.
"This rounded red opens with subtle aromas of ripe black-skinned berry, scorched earth and a whiff of grilled herb. The straightforward palate reflects the nose, offering black cherry, white pepper and a hint of clove alongside light loose tannins before a rather dusty close." - Wine Enthusiast
"Intense ruby red colour with violet hints,Very intense, fresh with notes of ripe red fruits, spice and herbs. Dry and smooth on the palate, good structure and a persistent finish."
