Grapes were picked during the early hours of the morning while it was cool to allow cold soaking to gently extract colour and skin tannins. The grapes were fermented in open fermenters to allow gentle pump-overs three times a day. Post alcoholic fermentation the wine was transferred to 30% new French and American oak barrels and 70% older French barrels for malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was left to mature for 18 months before bottling. The wine was fined and filtered before bottling.
18 months in French barriques, 2% new, 55% one year old.
Manjimup has been home to the Macedonian-born Peos family for more than 80 years. With viticulture in their historical veins, brothers Vic, John, Kon and Chris banded together in 1996 to create their dream vineyard as a legacy to their late father, Jim Peos, and late grandfather, P.Y. Peos. The Four Kings range is named after the four Peos brothers. The Peos brothers work hard to keep family traditions alive and ensure Peos Estate follows the customs that were passed down by their late father and grandfather.
"A powerhouse of flavour and intensity with a ball of sweet, ripe blackberries and plums injected with cinnamon quills and woodsy spices a la oak. Full-bodied, plump tannins and satisfaction guaranteed." - 94pts Halliday Wine Companion
