Rippon 'Mature Vine' Pinot Noir 2015 (Central Otago, New Zealand) "...wood spice, wild herbs, earth..."
"A blend of parcels across the property, this has a deeply spicy array of mixed fruit, framed in aromas of flint, dark stones, pepper, woody spices, wild herbs and fresh earth. Texturally, this is super fine and taut, which reflects the schist soils found here. Very fine, powerful and athletic with sustained fruit flavors that are typical of pinot noir. Long aging potential. Drink or hold" - 96 Points, James Suckling
"Beautiful perfume, floral, rosy, savoury-earthy-elemental scents with brambles and herbs rolled into ripe cherry, pomegranate. Just so lovely. A satisfying wash of pure fruit flavours in the palate, spiked with herbs, earth, savoury notes, just so effortless, and then the finish tightens up beautifully to a pucker. Formidable wine of beauty and verity." - 95 Points, Winefront
"This Lake Wanaka red has a long, proud history. Estate-grown but not a single-block wine – winemaker Nick Mills views it as 'the farm voice' – it is typically a very elegant, 'feminine' style, rather than a blockbuster. Hand-picked from ungrafted vines planted between 1985 and 1991, the 2015 vintage was fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured in French oak barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. A wine with a powerful presence, it is deeply coloured, fragrant and weighty, with concentrated plum/spice flavours, savoury and structured. A very harmonious wine, it should be long-lived; open 2020+." - 5 Stars, Michael Cooper
