Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (Adelaide Hills, Australia) "...grapefruit, lime and lemongrass..."
“This is a dignified sauvignon blanc that continuously reveals itself as you move from the bouquet through to the aftertaste of the palate. Initially it has classic restraint, but by the time you pick up the sweet fruit (not sugar) you realise it's the product of a vintage designed for sauvignon blanc.” 96 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion 2018
“There’s little doubt this is one of the better releases of this ever-popular wine. It bursts with fruit, it’s clean and pure, it’s not without elegance and/or restraint and yet it gives people what they want. Ripe tropical fruit cut with grapefruit, lime and lemongrass. Life-of-the-party and well-mannered at once. Charmingly uncluttered. A delicious Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc if ever there was one.” 93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front 2017
"2017 is Shaw + Smith’s 28th vintage. It has become known as a benchmark for Adelaide Hills, and Australian, Sauvignon Blanc. The style has remained fresh, aromatic, and pure over the journey. Recent evolution has been to source from higher and cooler sites, allowing us to retain lively acidity if conditions are warmer.Typically it shows a pink grapefruit character, concentration and mid-palate texture, which reflect the carefully selected sites and hand harvesting during the small window of perfect ripeness. The 2017 vintage is true to style with accentuated florals and very bright natural acidity, reminiscent of the 2015 vintage." - Producer
