A true leading light in the region “If there’s anything interesting happening in northwest Spain then it’s very possible he’s involved…” - Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter.

Garnacha Tintorera 80%; Syrah 20%

Venta la Vega is the personal project of renowned Bierzo oenologist Raúl Pérez one of the leading lights in the new generation of Spanish grape-growers. And none other than José Ángel Martínez from Envínate is in place as winemaker.

He farms 225ha of organic vines in Almansa, the majority of which are Garnacha Tintorera, one of the rare, red-fleshed wine grapes. Like much of continental Spain regions, the arid soils, hot days, and cool night are a perfect breeding ground for growing organic grapes.

In the mountainous limestone area of Almansa, with high altitude vineyards (up to 1200m) there are a number of distinct, natural micro-climates that enable the land to be farmed using techniques that do not involve any chemical treatments or additives.

"Very bright and transparent character to this with blackberry, cherry and light walnut character. Medium-bodied with light yet firm tannins and a linear finish. Nice tension. From organically grown grapes." - 91 Points, James Suckling

"Certified organic and exceptionally packaged, this is Raul’s most accessibly priced wine to date. Garnacha with a small addition of Syrah, aged three months in old oak. Vibrant, lifted fruit character and impeccable balance of acid and fruit intensity. Elegant, fresh, new wave Grenache at it’s best." - Winery notes
