Vieux Naudin Bordeaux Superieur Rouge 2021 (Bordeaux, France)

$40.00

Grown in the heart of Saint Michel de Fronsac, better known for growing Merlot. This wine is no exception with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. The Vieux Naudin pays tribute to the Traver’s family ancestors who have produced generation after generation of winemakers.

This little gem won the “Best Buy” accolade in Gourmet Traveller Wine recently which spiked our curiosity. It comes from St Michel de Fronsac which is Merlot country and yes it’s 70% Merlot with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).

It’s definitely no Chateau Petrus but it is a lovely all purpose mid-weight French table wine which is impeccably crafted at this modest level. The warm and highly regarded 2015 Bordeaux vintage may also be playing a role in the success of this wine. It you like French wines but don’t want to hock your house to drink them, then this is definitely a good option.
